Faraway in the hills of Chamoli Uttarakhand lies Brahmatal also reffered to as a Frozen glacial lake during winters. Brahmatal is a high altitude alpine lake tucked in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas at an altitiude of about 7000 feets. Its believed to be the meditation site of Lord Brahma. The region is known for its enormous beauty with amazing closeup views of Mount Trishul and Mount Nanda Ghunti. Brahmatal Summit gives mesmerizing golden views of the glowing snow-clad peaks during sunrise and the nights are full of glowing stars.This trail to Brahmatal goes through Rhododendrons Forests and you are greeted by up close views of Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti from most of the ridges. The 12 kilometers long trail to Brahmatal starts from Lohajung village and involves walking through snow for most part during winters. During this trek also you get to camp by the side of two different lakes- Bekal Tal and Brahmatal which are frozen in the months of December-January.

This tour begins as you reach Lohajung after a long drive from Rishikesh and thereafter take the thrilling climb to the Brahmatal and Brahmatal summit. The trail goes through Rhododendrons Forests and offers spectacular views of Himalayan. Camp besides the Bekaltal and Brahmatal to get spectacular views of the snow covered peaks of Trishul, Nadaghunti, Chowkhamba, Nilkanth and Hathi Parvat and climb up Brahmatal Top to get 360 degree view of might Himalayas.
Lohajung is a small hamlet enroute to the most popular Nanda Devi Rajyat Yatra held once in 12 years and trek to Roopkund and Bedni Bugyal. Lohajung, as the locals say, is the place where Goddess Parvati had a jung (war) with the demon, Lohasur
The Brahamatal Lake is set in the middle of the vast meadow with a wide open valley in the backdrop and offer faraway views of Tharali and Gwaldam and amazing closeup views of Trishul and Nanda Ghunti. The lake is frozen during winter months of December and Janurary.
