Valley of Flower and Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib are located high in the lofty Himalayas of the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. The valley sprawls this enchanting region and is famous for its charming meadows of alpine flowers and known as a paradise for nature lovers located at 3858 meters and the Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib, an important pilgrimage for Sikhs and Hindus located at an elevation of 4,632 meters in the core zone of Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. As the name suggests there is a variety of 520 species of rare collection of exotic flowers which are in bloom from end of June till September, the valley remain open from 1st June every year and closes on 4th October. This valley is not just famous for Flowers but there is plenty of wildlife with Musk Deer, Brown Beer, Himalayan Black Deer, Bharal and a huge variety of butterflies. River Pushpawati runs through the valley and the river bed is 8 kilometers from the entry gate with flowers all around and the backdrop offere views of mighty Himalayas and glittering glaciers. The trek for Valley of Flowers starts from Village Pulna which is about 5 Kms ahead from Govindghat and from here the 13 Km well laid trek will take us to Ghangaria which is the base for trek to both the Valley of Flowers and Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib which is an important pilgrimage for Sikhs and Hindus and is about 5 Km from the base camp at Ghangaria.

Valley of Flowers is a moderate trek and provides immense delight to nature lovers while the trek to Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib is a steep one. The starting point of both these treks is at village Pulna which is 5 Kms ahead of Govindghat. Govindghat is about 280 Kms drive from Rishikesh, the drive goes past Devprayag – Srinagar – Rudraprayag – Karanprayag – Chamoli – Joshimath and Govindghat where we stay overnight before taking this 13 Kms uphill trek to Ghangaraia from where one route takes you to the entry gate of Valley of Flowers and another steep climb of 5 Kms takes you to Gurdwara Hemkund Sahib . The entire route is along river Laxman Ganga and lined by thick forest with the backdrop offering impressive views of mountain peaks of Himalayas.
